ON THE CALIFORNIA CAMPAIGN TRAIL '26: NOTES FROM SEAN FORBES
DAY TWO: August 20th, 2025
LOCATION: Long Beach, CA
WEATHER: 83°F (Clear)

So, why run? What's the point of all this? Aside from the fact that there's no adult in the room to clean this up for us—and our Governor, supposed to be our chief defender of the California community, is doing nothing but pushing no-work jobs for Democrats in Congress—what is this really about?

Honestly, when it comes down to it, it's mostly a reaction to the last 25 years. It's a vague, lingering feeling.

We know Congress is bought. Maybe it's AIPAC, or maybe it's just good old American insiders and brownshirts working for causes we can't even begin to reconcile.

Perhaps it's simply that we've seen a steady erosion of anything genuinely unique or true about America—the sick feeling that we were signed up for a bad mission the moment we were born.

Think about someone old enough to vote, drink, and smoke. What has their life been—9/11, economic collapse, Trump, Biden, Trump again? We all know this isn't the life we're meant to live, yet somehow we're expected to accept this as normal. Troops in Washington for show, kidnapping gangs organized by the elected central government, a state that ranks higher than Germany but can't fix a pothole or house a person without overcharging them.

Some say we should just vote Democrat and hope for the best. But that ignores how much of our paychecks go to people who despise us—just because we don't hate our neighbors enough or because we ask corporations to be more responsible about the environment and their workers. Companies are fleeing California because some accountant, who's never faced hardship, sees the stock price rise by a fraction in a state that rejects voting rights, civil rights, or marriage equality.

In California, despite its faults, we at least refused to elect a criminal back to the White House. The other states didn't. They hate us, but they're also dipping into our wallets.

We need to go our own way. We must open the door to honest debate about what good government really looks like and perhaps become a true nation. It's time to clear the decks, wipe the slate clean, and start over.

The CNP has other ideas besides this—those will be talked about—but can we just admit that enough is enough? Aren't we all tired of this system? And can we finally accept that this ship is sinking, while the other passengers praise the captain?

We need to act. If all I accomplish is forcing California to give itself a giant reset, that alone would be worth it.

Anyone who looks at our Supreme Court, Congress, and Presidency and claims this is the best system mankind could create—well, they should leave. Let those who realized the ship hit the iceberg years ago find their peace on a lifeboat of their own.
